Timmy

So if my school got a tablet that was super fast and awesome, everyone would drop the old ones, just like that?

Exactly! It’s like water turning to ice. Change can feel impossible, but with the right spark — boom, everyone rushes to the new thing. That’s the power of a 10x leap.

Timmy

So the trick isn’t to just make things slightly better… it’s to make them so amazing that no one wants the old way anymore! There is no middle ground

Quotes: When you're used to something, you don't realize how bad it is until you see something good. The old way is suddenly revealed as intolerable. Also, if you get used to something, it's really hard to get you to change due to switching costs, loss aversion and status quo bias, unless that new thing is 10 times as good. If something is 10x good, its surprising how fast demand would move to it, like water turning to ice.
